Tony Knight

Tony Knight grew up with Africa in his blood. A professional wildlife manager based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Tony has spent his career working in some of the continent's most extraordinary wild spaces, but it was the rhino poaching crisis that changed his direction entirely.

Watching rhinos disappear from reserves he had known his whole life, Tony made a decision: he would not just witness the crisis. He would fight it. He founded the Upmost Foundation and began organizing dehorning operations. This is the most effective non-lethal deterrent to poaching available.

But Tony had another vision. He believed that the people most likely to care deeply about this work and to show up with both their hearts and their resources were the LGBTQ+ community. People who understood what it meant to fight for something vulnerable. People who had been told they didn't belong in certain spaces, and who had learned to create their own.

Man Expeditions was born from that belief. Tony created the world's first gay conservation expedition a small, exclusive group of men who would come to South Africa, get their hands dirty saving rhinos, and then live like kings at a luxury safari lodge. Not a tour. A team.

Tony leads every expedition personally. He is your guide, your host, and your connection to the land. He knows every corner of the Zululand bush. He knows the veterinarians, the trackers, the lodge staff. And he knows how to create an experience that guests describe as the most meaningful thing they have ever done.
